How much will a machine operator, warehouse worker or forklift (VZV) driver earn in 2026? It depends mainly on the region, type of operation, shift pattern, experience and bonuses. This overview gives you indicative gross pay ranges for manufacturing and logistics in the Czech Republic, explains the difference between the average and the median, and offers tips on what to look for when comparing job offers.
First, one clarification: median vs. average
When people say the average wage in the Czech Republic now exceeds CZK 50,000, most people in manufacturing will say they don't earn that much – and they're often right. The national average is pushed up by above-average earnings in fields such as IT, finance and top management. (According to the Czech Statistical Office, the average gross monthly wage in Q1 2026 was CZK 50,282.)
For blue-collar and operational roles, the median is more telling – the middle value in the set of wages, where roughly half of employees in a given role earn less and the other half more. The median tends to be several thousand crowns lower than the average and better reflects a typical income. In the overview below we therefore work with indicative ranges rather than a single "exact" figure.
Wages by role (2026)
The ranges below combine publicly available data on paid wages (ISPV) and current advertised wages from job portals. They are therefore not a single statistical median for each profession, but indicative market bands. A specific offer may differ depending on the region, shift pattern, length of experience, bonuses and benefits. These are gross monthly wages for a full-time job.

Machine operator. The most common profession in manufacturing. The indicative range runs from roughly CZK 25,000 to 35,000 gross. The lower end corresponds to simpler assembly work without experience, the upper end to more qualified operators – and often already includes shift premiums and performance components. That's why job ads commonly advertise "pay up to CZK 34,000–35,000".
Warehouse worker. In many offers the base wage runs roughly between CZK 24,000 and 30,000 gross. It is pushed up by location, responsibility for dispatch and work in a warehouse management system (WMS).
Forklift (VZV) driver. For qualified forklift drivers in shift operation the total gross monthly pay can run higher than for an ordinary warehouse worker – a valid licence, experience and the type of operation are decisive.
Setter / production line mechanic. A qualified technical profession with a direct impact on production. Starting wages begin at roughly CZK 35,000 and vary further by field, technology, shift pattern and required qualifications.
What really affects wages in manufacturing
The base rate is only part of the story. Actual earnings are raised or lowered by these factors:
Shift work. The strongest lever. Work at night, at weekends and on public holidays is entitled to premiums by law. These premiums cannot be used to top up the minimum wage – on top of the base wage they can therefore increase total monthly pay by thousands of crowns, depending on the number of shifts worked. Continuous operation is thus significantly more advantageous than a single-shift job.
Region. Differences between regions are considerable. Higher wages tend to be in Prague and the Central Bohemian Region and in areas with a concentration of manufacturing and low unemployment, where firms compete for workers.
Experience and qualifications. A forklift licence, crane operator's licence, welding certificates or experience with a specific technology push the rate up.
Benefits. The wage alone does not reflect total compensation. In manufacturing, contributions to transport, accommodation and meals, plus attendance and performance bonuses, are common. When comparing offers it pays to count the whole package, not just the figure in the contract.
The 2026 minimum wage as the lower limit

With agency employment, moreover, for the duration of the assignment you are entitled to at least comparable working and pay conditions to those of a comparable regular employee of the company (the user) in the same or a similar role. What is assessed is therefore not only the base wage, but also relevant premiums, working hours and other conditions.
